Gwartha is a Cornish word conveying a sense of simplicity, naturalness and being close to the land.
This is what I hope my pottery evokes.
My garage studio
by the sea
I'm lucky enough to be able to peek out of my garage window as I work, across the fields to Port Isaac Bay. The colours, smells and sounds of this breathtaking landscape influence my simple, earthy shapes and glazes.
I love that my pottery is sturdy and useful. It feels rooted in the place where I live. A place where present and past seem to merge and myths and legends feel alive in the quiet timelessness of its beauty.

Local Clay
My clay comes from the pits near St. Agnes keeping it as truly "from the earth" of North Cornwall as possible.

Colours of the Sea and Sky
The glazes I use reflect the colours that surround me, changing as the seasons bring their new light and shades to the landscape.

Home Beauty
The beauty surrounding my home makes me catch my breath, daily. I could never get tired of this landscape.

All my pieces are made to be functional, so they're oven and dishwasher proof and food-safe.
